- 6 cups day-old bread, cubed⢠2 cups
whole milk⢠1 cup heavy cream⢠4
large eggs⢠ž cup granulated sugar⢠½
cup packed brown sugar⢠2 tsp vanilla
extract⢠1 tsp ground cinnamon⢠½
tsp nutmeg⢠Ÿ tsp salt⢠½ cup raisinsâ˘
4 tbsp unsalted butter, meltedFor the
Sauce:⢠½ cup unsalted butter⢠½ cup
brown sugar⢠½ cup heavy cream⢠1
tsp vanilla extract
Method:1. Preheat
the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a
9Ă13-inch baking dish.2. Place the
cubed bread in the prepared dish and
sprinkle the raisins evenly over the
top.3. In a large bowl, whisk together
the milk, heavy cream, eggs,
granulated sugar, brown sugar,
vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly
over the bread. Gently press the bread
down so it absorbs the custard. Let it
sit for 10â15 minutes.5. Drizzle the
melted butter over the top.
- Bake for 45â55 minutes, until the
pudding is golden brown and the
center is set but still slightly soft.
- While the pudding bakes, make the
sauce. Melt the butter in a saucepan
over medium heat. Stir in the brown
sugar and heavy cream and simmer
for 3â4 minutes, stirring until smooth.
Remove from the heat and stir in the
vanilla.8. Let the bread pudding cool
for about 10 minutes, then drizzle
generously with the warm sauce.
- Serve warm with extra sauce,
whipped cream, or a scoop of vanilla
